Job Description

The incumbent will report to the Pro-Vice Chancellor, Academic Affairs              

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensuring compliance of Campus Radio with national and international broadcasting statutes;
  • Formulating policies related to the management of Campus Radio and its development within the Zimbabwe Open University;
  • Ensuring smooth operations of the Campus Radio;
  • Co-ordinating and assisting departments with programme schedules for digital teaching and learning using Campus Radio;
  • Ensuring programmes presented for broadcasting to the Campus Radio meet expected standards;
  • Liaising with relevant units for ZOU brand building and student recruitment;
  • Identifying suitable high-profile interviewees among ZOU staff and visiting research fellows within the SADC and beyond and facilitating participation on Campus Radio;
  • Attending to the interests of ZOU and its stakeholders with decorum and professionalism
  • Assisting ZOU staff members to produce tutorial programmes for broadcasting;
  • Organizing training for Campus Radio staff and Students on attachment;
  • Reporting periodically on the progress of the activities of the Campus Radio;
  • Coordinating ZOU National and International teaching and learning exchange programmes;
  • Monitoring and Evaluating Campus Radio performance;
  • Carrying out any other duties as and when required by the Pro-Vice Chancellor, Academic Affairs.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • MA in Journalism/Media Studies/Communication or related field;
  • A management qualification is an added advantage;
  • Extensive knowledge, and proven ability to teach and conduct research;
  • Five years in an academic institution in a management position; and
  • Knowledge and experience in open and distance learning will be an added advantage.
