MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Â
- Collecting, cleaning, and preparing data from diverse sources, including student records, academic databases, financial systems, research publications, and external data sources.
- Ensuring data quality and integrity through data validation, cleaning, transformation, and integration techniques.
- Developing and maintaining data pipelines and ETL (Extracting, Transforming, Loading) processes for efficient data flow.
- Conducting exploratory data analysis (EDA) to identify patterns, trends, and anomalies within the data.
- Developing and implementing statistical models, machine learning algorithms (e.g., regression, classification, clustering), and predictive analytics techniques to address research questions and solve business problems.
- Utilizing statistical software (e.g., R, Python, SQL, statistical packages) and data visualization tools to analyze data and generate insightful findings
- Providing data-driven recommendations and insights to support strategic planning, academic program development, student recruitment and retention initiatives, research funding applications, and other key university decisions.
- Collaborating with stakeholders across the university to identify data needs and develop data-driven solutions to address their specific challenges.
- Ensuring compliance with all relevant data privacy regulations, including the University’s data protection policy and applicable national and international regulations (e.g., GDPR, CDPA);
- Any other duties as may be assigned by the Information Security Engineer.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- A Bachelor of Science Degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field;
- At least one (1) year working experience in data analysis;
- Strong programming skills in Python or R;
- Proficiency in SQL and experience working with relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL);
- Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI); and
- Knowledge of data privacy regulations and security best practices.
