LECTURER/SENIOR LECTURER/ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR/ PROFESSOR (1 POST): FACULTY OF SCIENCE: DEPARTMENT OF GEOGRAPHY AND ENVIRONMENTAL STUDIES: BULAWAYO REGIONAL CAMPUS

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Leading in the development and launching of new programmes;
• Developing and producing of distance Teaching and Open Learning materials including writing modules;
• Developing, designing, outlining, reviewing or rebranding a minimum of one (1) programme per year;
• Able to conduct a minimum of two (2) tutorials per semester;
• Carrying out applied research to develop innovations for industrialisation;
• Promoting the University wide initiatives;
• Establishing partnerships with industry and local communities;
• Engaging in community service;
• Interfacing with other Faculties;
• Engaging in University service; and
• Carrying out any other duties as assigned by the Dean.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• A minimum qualification of a Master of Science Degree in Climate Change and Sustainable Development or any other related qualification;
• A Bachelor of Science Honours in Geography and Environmental Studies/ Science and related qualifications in Environmental Management from a recognized University;

• Possession of a PhD in any of the areas stated above is an added advantage;
• A minimum of two (2) years teaching experience in an institution of Higher Learning is a requirement;
• Knowledge of distance education would be an added advantage;
• Practical knowledge and experience in mapping resources using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and remote sensing technology is an added advantage;
• Approved consultancy and research experience in Geography and or Environmental Studies/Science.

• Ability to work with minimal supervision
